Rock Roofing Airdrie is a residential roofing contractor for Airdrie, Alberta and the communities around it. We handle the full range of roofing work a home in this part of the province needs: storm and leak repairs, hail and wind damage, full replacements, flat and low-slope roofs, skylights, ventilation and inspections.
Our crew has already worked on Airdrie roofs, and everything on this website is written from what we see on them: the builder-grade shingles on the newer subdivisions, the two-layer roofs and plank decks in Old Town, the wind-stripped rake edges on the northwest edge of the city, and the hail bruises that show up every summer somewhere along the QEII.

Why Airdrie
Airdrie is one of the fastest-growing cities in Alberta, and its roofs tell that story. Most of the city was built in the last twenty-five years, in large subdivisions where builders chose entry-level shingles to keep new homes affordable. Those roofs are now reaching the age where they need serious attention — and many of them get there early, because of where Airdrie sits.
The hail corridor. Airdrie is in the middle of the stretch of Alberta known for damaging hail. Storms build over the foothills on summer afternoons and cross the prairie with nothing to break them up. The June 13, 2020 storm that hit Calgary, Airdrie and Rocky View County is the one people remember, but smaller storms total roofs on individual streets most summers.
The wind. North and northwest winds cross open farmland before they reach the city. On exposed lots — Reunion is the clearest example — shingles lose their seal and lift along the rake edges and ridges long before the rest of the roof is worn.
Freeze-thaw and chinooks. Warm spells melt snow across the roof and then refreeze it at the eaves, building ice dams and opening every weak seam and flashing.
A commuter city. Many Airdrie homeowners work in Calgary. They don’t have time for a roofer who doesn’t show up, doesn’t call back or leaves the job half-finished. A local contractor who keeps appointments is worth more here than a slightly lower number on a quote.
How we work
A roof is a big purchase that most people make only a few times. These are the principles we hold to on every job.
We inspect before we quote. No quotes from satellite images or from the curb. We look at the roof, the flashing, the vents and — whenever possible — the attic, because many “roof” problems start there.
We show you what we found. You get photos of the problems we report, so you can see them yourself instead of taking our word for it.
We tell you when you don’t need a new roof. If a repair will carry the roof for several more years, that’s what we recommend. If the roof is fine, we say so.
Quotes are itemized. Tear-off, decking, ice-and-water shield, underlayment, flashing, vents, shingles and GST each on their own line, so you can compare us fairly with anyone else.
Standard and Class 4, side by side. In Airdrie’s hail corridor, every replacement quote includes the option of Class 4 impact-resistant shingles, so the upgrade decision is based on your roof, not an average.
No storm-chasing tactics. We don’t knock on doors after hail, we don’t pressure anyone to sign the same day, and we never offer to cover or waive an insurance deductible. Our roof insurance claims page explains why.
What we know about Airdrie roofs
Local knowledge is the difference between a roof that lasts and one that fails early. A few things we take into account on every Airdrie job:
- Builder-grade roofs across Cooper’s Crossing, King’s Heights and Hillcrest often lack starter strip along the rakes, have short step flashing where garage roofs meet walls, and have bath fans venting into the attic.
- Older roofs in Old Town can hide a second layer of shingles and board decking, and often have far less ventilation than they need.
- Wind specifications matter as much as the brand of shingle. Starter on the rakes, the manufacturer’s high-wind nailing pattern and hand-sealed edges in cool weather are standard on our installs.
- Ventilation decides how long a roof lives. An overheated or damp attic ages shingles and causes ice dams; we check it on every replacement. See roof ventilation.
- Duplexes and townhomes need careful tie-ins at shared roof lines and, for complexes, work planned with the condominium board.
Safety and care on your property
A roof job happens on your home, next to your garden, your car and often your neighbours. How a crew works on the ground matters as much as what it does on the roof.
- Fall protection is set up before anyone works on the roof, as Alberta’s workplace safety rules require.
- Landscaping, windows and siding are protected with tarps and boards where debris will fall.
- The disposal bin is placed where you agree, on boards to protect the driveway, and moved as soon as the tear-off is done.
- The roof is never left open overnight without protection against rain or snow.
- The yard is swept with a magnet for nails at the end of every day, not only at the end of the job.
- Neighbours on shared roof lines — duplexes and townhomes — are told what to expect before we start.
